But it is time consuming and certainly not a skill practiced to perfection by professionals having far more lucrative uses of their time. All that said, one can’t just get anyone to write ones marketing material or articles as it is certainly better to have nothing than something badly done…

I have long years of "corporate" financial and compliance background - I know how to do the research and give the right amount of attention to the details. I have done a number of writing courses over the years, and now finally given in to my yearning to write full time. By writing articles, marketing material, blogs, etc. for other people I get to practice my passion and at the same time help people to get what they need done in a professional manner.
Over the last almost 10 years in the various compliance related roles that I have filled, I have “compliance checked” a LOT of marketing material and articles for various financial services providers. It has been impossible for me to refrain from helping the “authors” to convey their message better. At times this helping hand was not received very graciously, but the suggestions accepted nonetheless. On many occasions the first proof read or “compliance check”, with its copious editing, resulted in me being assigned the “author” role from scratch the next time around, something I not so secretly enjoyed.
