The value add that I would like to bring to businesses would be predominantly on the finance side with the link to operations through interpretation of the numbers so that business owners have a better financial grasp on how the company is doing and where the money is coming from and going to.
I am passionate about small businesses specifically within South Africa and my overall aim is to assist small businesses with the understanding of the numbers to ensure that the owners efforts are concentrated on maximising profits. In my opinion a lot of small business owners are so busy involved in the product or service (which is where one wants their focus to be) which results in not enough time being spent analysing the numbers. I feel that it is important to understand how well the product or service is actually doing and whether there are any areas that can be improved or changed to meet the long term financial goals of the business owner.
I am a CA(SA) and I have recently completed my MBA through UCT’s Graduate School of Business. I chose a finance-based subject for my Master’s Dissertation however I did choose to focus on entrepreneurship and innovation as well as leadership through my elective subjects. I completed my articles at KPMG, Johannesburg in 2012 and then moved down to Cape Town in 2013 and joined a boutique asset management company as a Financial Manager where I was later promoted to Financial Director.
