An Electrical qualification coupled with a qualification in Mechanical Engineering. • Profound experience in Mechanical engineering & design with a multi-disciplined aptitude. • Machine design experience, as well as FEA (Finite Element Analysis and Engineering calculations). • Previous experience in a defense and aerospace environment – Reutech Defense Industries/ Reutech Communications plus Bombardier Transportation and Aerospace: Gautrain Rapid Rail Link Project. • Knowledge and experience in writing manuals and technical documents. • Managed engineering design office for over 5 years, size 6 to 10 team members. • Possess strong CAD techniques including proficient skill and knowledge of various software packages essential for producing 2 & 3 dimensional, functional designs. • Pro Engineer, Solid Edge, Solid Works, AutoCad and recently Catia V5, now Fusion 360 and Adobe Illustrator. • Deep knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical designs, drawings and models. • Profound knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. • Good knowledge of Mechanical Engineering Drawing, Mechanical engineering Design (Cad drawings and Cad models, interpretation and good application of applicable draughting standards, ISO standards, BS 8888, Calculations, processes and material selection essential for designing). • Electro-technology, Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Strength of materials, Mechanics of Machines,Thermodynamics. Mechanical Manufacturing 1 and 2 with Mechanical Engineering Design (Manufacturing processes, geometric tolerance, weld symbols, fits and limits and surface finishes, material selection…etc), • In-depth ability to read and comprehend written instructions, with excellent communication skills.
Highlighted experiences: I was employed as Senior Designer for reputable international Transportation and Aerospace company BOMBARDIER, benchmarking the Gautrain Rapid Rail Link Project, which has propelled South Africa into a new era of technology and infrastructure. Now, as Senior Mechanical Engineer (CAD), designing and production of new rolling stock for South Africa: PRASA’s R51 billion Rolling Stock Project, the biggest project in the world
. My major functions and job responsibilities at Bombardier and previous companies and industries include: Electrical and Mechanical (Electro-mechanical) design: • Initial conception, design & analysis, manufacturing, verification, updating, modifications & re-issuing of designs and drawings for manufacturing, to quality control and configuration management, • Checker (Chief) – Measurable Accuracy and exceedingly Detail Orientated. • Measurable success with achieving multi-million rand milestones and deadlines. • Project Management. core competencies • Conceptual Designs and Product Development: recently designed and developed emergency ladder for Rolling stock. New Design and unique globally.
