After working for many years as a Graphic Designer/Stylist in the Art Department for Madame Zingara I have gained valuable knowledge in the entertainment/hospitality industry which I think has allowed me to understand what makes people tick so to speak.
My skill set has grown enormously through the development of three restaurants and the Madame Zingara Theatre of Dreams. I have also done a few freelancing jobs in-between and have now chosen to pursue my career as a freelancer. Why? Well, I enjoy having the flexibility of working on different projects with different challenges and also, I love spending time with my cats and dogs.
This is what I do:
Illustration, Logo design and Corporate Identity, Menu Design, Wedding Invitations, in a nutshell - anything that involves branding and printing.
These are some other things that I have done:
Restaurant interior styling, window dressing/styling, costume and fabrication, clothing/apparel design, hand painted murals and exterior signage and installation.
This is what I also enjoy doing when I am not doing the other things I love to do:
Creating patterns for surfaces and wallpapers, searching Pinterest, reading design blogs, editing pictures on Instagram, reading interior design magazines and again, spending time with my cats and dogs
The best part of my job:
The response from a client when they are 100% happy with the design work that I have created. It means that that I have successfully created something that meets their brief and hopefully even goes beyond their expectation.
My previous boss described me as pedantic. In my line of work I think that's good thing because it allows me to fully enjoy every little bit of the design process from start to finish.
